Hello! My name is Jenny, and this is my blog for all my arty and bookish thoughts. I am a bookseller (specialising in childrens and Young Adult books). I have a first-class degree in English Literature and History of Art & Architecture (BA Hons) from Trinity College Dublin.
I mostly read and review children’s and YA literature, but occasionally dip into adult fiction, poetry and non-fiction. I am a dedicated gallery-goer and also enjoy writing about art. My particular arty interests include illustration, women artists and Irish art.
Thanks for visiting my blog, and happy reading!
Nominated for Blog of the Year in the Smedias 2014.
Hi Jenny I love your blog! Keep up the awesome work! 🙂 xx
Thank you so much, that’s really sweet of you! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your blog too – love the title! 😀 – Jenny
Hiya Jenny! I stumbled across your blog through Pretty Books. I too am a big fan of the books and the YA. 🙂
I studied Art Graphics right up to ALevels but I found it so stressful. One of my favourite things to draw were buildings, I got a bit obsessed with it for a while. There are so many interesting angles and textures to play around with. Learning about the history of architecture sounds awesome, I hope you’re enjoying it!
Hello Becky!
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! 🙂 Pretty Books is a great blog, and I’m glad you came across my work too! I’ve taken a look at your blog too – it’s really good!
That’s really interesting, I’ve never really tried drawing buildings – just studied them! And yes, I love studying the History of Art & Architecture, as well as English. 🙂
Hope you’ll continue reading my blog, I will be following yours!
Jenny
No problem! Yeah Pretty Books is a great blog, I always find interesting books there. Awwh thank you. 🙂
Ack, don’t, it’s a nightmare. There are so many straight lines and proportions to get right, I think most of my buildings ended up wonky. 😛 I was hardly what you would call an artist, but I had a lot of fun with it for a while. I enjoyed the project.
Thank you for following!
Checked out your page and it looks awesome, keep up the great work! I look forward to reading more from you 🙂
Thank you so much for the lovely comment 🙂 Taking a look at your blog now!
Jenny- I enjoyed your piece on the Strand bookstore in New York City. I have visited Dublin many times–love it. Check out Harry Clarke’s stained windows if you haven’t already. My husband wrote an article on HC in the Illustration magazine and we loved seeing his windows in Bewleys. Have a great time in Ireland.bgosier
Thank you for the lovely comment Barbara! I am a big fan of Harry Clarke’s work, and have wirtten several blog posts on his work. I would love to read your husband’s article, always eager to learn more about Harry Clarke! And yes, the Bewleys windows are wonderful, it is one of my favourite places in the city 🙂 Jenny
